Hello all,
Today we tested our interest in sports cars which highlighted our desire for companionship. We then shifted to spending some time on the transition from being involved in pure research and reflection to crafting a focus and outline to share our research and reflection with others.
The first stage of writing is always based on thinking about what, why, and how you want to explore your topic/subject. This first stage is mostly concerned with the location of a focus. Often, your focus becomes your thesis...but not at this point. At this point, you should be constructing a basic focus which will help you to organize your thoughts, reflections, and research. I handed out another packet of information, and we began to work through it.
At the end of class, we all had a focus statement to help us as we begin to outline our texts. You will need to complete the outline by next Weds. So work smart, and think about the various aspects we discussed. Some notes:
-Remember, sections can have many paragraphs, so don't think of a section purely as a paragraph.
-Evidence and support should reference some of your research. Remember to keep your i-search close to you as you are outlining.
-Warrants are hard to construct, so take your time and always look back at your focus.
-Nothing you write is "set in stone" so remember constant revision is okay and to be expected.
-You probably won't have a definitive conclusion yet...the conclusion takes time.
For Monday:
