For Friday (10:45)

Hello all,

Today we began the day with an exercise about losses and gains.

We completed our knowledge nugget about Book III which focused on active and engaged reading. We moved through a step-by-step process of looking at the selection. We started with identifying the key points of the work, then we moved to explaining our comprehension of the work, followed by an application of the story's events to our lives, then moved to an analysis of the story through comparing and contrasting, transitioned to a synthesis of the story with outside events or thoughts, and finally evaluated the story based on our criteria. With this movement, we explored what it means to read vs what it means to read for meaning and understanding.

Remember, as scholars you need to focus on becoming well-versed with what others are saying and thinking in your area. One way to accomplish this is to read with focus and intent. As you move through the research and construction of understanding phase of the I-search, you will focus on becoming familiar with your sources.

For March 25 (in two weeks) you will need to have completed the five article/website and 1 book reading portion of the i-search. The first part of the i-search requires that you move through the material like we moved through the Kafka reading while the second portion asks you to construct a personal narrative of this exploration and the connections to your overall research and plans. You will need to make sure that you plan accordingly so that you are spacing the reading, writing, and reflection out over the next two weeks.

For Friday:

Read: n/a

Write: start thinking and planning for your research and reading exercises

Do: Locate a book about your area of inquiry.

Take care, and thanks,

Kat
