For Weds (11:45)

Hello all,

Today, we began our discussion centered Monday sessions with everyone sharing a question relating to our readings. Remember, you will want to make sure that you are prepared for the discussions on monday. Every monday, one of you will lead a 15 minute discussion on the readings and class work. These sessions are opportunities for you to really engage the information and to create knowledge for your self and others. Remember, to really "understand" a subject, you need to be able to place it within your framework of understanding. The key to framing the information is to interrogate and to interpret the information for yourself and for others in conversation and dialogue.

We spent a lot of time exploring issues such as:

1.Chris D. mentioned the idea that we connect the hero to many aspects of writing? We often focus on connecting stories and ideas through the structure provided by forms.
2. Chad focused on the idea of success and the hero. This point also led the discussion to focus on perceptions of heroes.
3. We had a free form discussion about the sense of failure with the hero.
4. Anasstassia introduced the idea that even if the hero in the text does not achieve success, the writer/director may

Great thoughts!

We then explored some ideas relating to subjectivity and assuming a role or a perspective on subjects and ideas. We will be exploring ideas relating to subjectivity and structure throughout the class, so be ready to examine who you are as a writer and thinker.

We concluded the class with a brief discussion about the heros we identified with as a child. There were a variety of characters, but I find it really interesting that you all picked characters who represent aspects of your personality. Remember, to explore the blog resources as you will want to create engaging and creative "texts" on the blog that capture your ideas and thoughts.
