For Monday 11:45

Hello all,

We began the day by conducting an exercise about persona or the mask we wear. We then examined the various personas of women by watching a short clip on women of the 1920's. Our discussion was really engaging as we shifted from just seeing some connections to really thinking about how we learn and what methods are best for examining controversial issues. We spent some time discussing the validity of women's bobbing of their hair as social action. We also discussed issues related to women's ability to participate in activities as a result of independent desires.

Here is a link that furthers some of our discussions.

Remember, we must be able to analyze the world around us in order to understand how to communicate with others effectively. Ideas are not dangerous, but ideologies can be.

We also explored methods of peer reviewing. I distributed the handout (which is also attached to the email). You need to invite your peer to view your work on google.doc and have them complete the handout. Remember, under each of the four areas on the assessment tool, you must list one strength and one area for improvement for your peer. I would recommend making sure that you can touch base with your peer before the weekend or at least during the weekend, as you need to complete another revision for Monday.

In addition, after you receive your peer comment's and during or after you revise your draft using the feedback provided, you will want to post a short note on your blog. This note should address what areas of the text were improved because of your peer feedback and any other salient observations that your peer assisted you in discovering. You need to post this on your blog by Monday.

For Monday:

Read: Monday: Vogler pages 83-105
Weds: Kafka, "Book 1" The Metamorphosis

Write: Peer Review comments: 1 strength and 1 area for improvement under each of the four areas.
Write overview of Peer Review
Annotation on blog for Vogler
Revise your draft using peer review comments

Do: Share Peer Review comments with Peer via email, phone, or meeting
Post overview of Peer Review on Blog
Post annotation on blog
Post revised draft on google.docs.

Take care, and email me with questions.

Kat
